ToteBag Tuesday’s have a new twist.

It is still the FirstTuesday of every month.

Design Classes!

ForFebruary, our class was taught by two of our talented GateHouse designers,

Joey& Jennifer.explained the psychology of color

and showed us the latest in colortrends and combinations for design.

Everyoneenjoyed Jennifer’s design tips

and had the chance to ask her questions

about adding color into their homes.

Evenour youngest participant learned a lot about color and design.

We think hemight go home and paint his bedroom “hulk green”.

Thenthere was plenty of time to check out all of the new furniture,

art, mirrors,rugs and accessories throughout the store.

Ofcourse, no one can resist cake bites from our favorite bakery The Sweet ToothFairy…did you know they have a new location right by the University Mall movietheaters?

…andright now they have flavors perfect for Valentine’s including Chocolate coveredstrawberry, red velvet cake, and of course the everyday favorites like toastedcoconut and double chocolate. One word: Divine.

I don’t think anyone who came in Tuesday missed trying at least one of thesetasty treats….

Thenmany went shopping to take it all in, even stopping to sit in a comfy chair anddream about what rooms they will start on next….

NextJoey took over and showed us simple ways to add fresh updates to any room.

So many of you are asking the same question, how to transition from a darker,heavier palette to the lighter, brighter, and more neutral scape withoutstarting from scratch?

Joey had several examples of how to change out your area rugs, accessories andpillows to transform the feel and over all design of a room.

Holiday Open House: Tree Decorating

Today we kicked off our annual holiday open house with our first decorating class of the week. Today's class focused on giving your tree the look of the pros! Guests enjoyed inside tips while snacking on cupcakes provided by The Sweet Tooth Fairy and some warm wassail. One lucky lady who entered our drawing went home with a set of gorgeous snowflakes to spruce up her home!

Dress Up Your Table for Easter!

Easter is next month and it's time to break out your Easter decorations! The kitchen table is always a great place to showcase your things but sometimes it's hard to think of a cute way to put everything together. Well, we are here to help with a "How to" tutorial on how to decorate YOUR kitchen table. Follow these 5 simple steps:

First, place a bright spring runner down on your kitchen table. Scrunch the runner together a little so it isn't perfectly straight, and place either a floral or leafy wreath down in the center of the runner.

Second, find a tall apothecary jar and fill it with Easter Eggs.

Third, place the jar to one side of the wreath, leaving room for other decorations.

Fourth, place taller figurine (we used the bunny from our store) next to the jar. Place a smaller item (either a potted plant, candle, or small figuring) in front of the other two items.

Fifth, your center piece is almost done! Place extra eggs or even Easter Candy of all different

shapes and sizes around the wreath for the finishing touches!

Pretty simple if you ask me :) Enjoy your fabulous Easter centerpiece and all the warm

weather we are having!

We're all "Wrapped" up in Scarves!

It's hard these days to know what to wear with the weather being so indecisive! One day it's nice and sunny, and the next day it's cold and rainy. We say wear a cute Spring scarf that could be worn any day of the year! With all the brand new scarves we have here at the Gatehouse, a lot of you ask the question "How to I wear this?" Well we are here to help! Here are our a few of our ideas:

"The Pull Through"- Bend the scarf in half, wrap around your neck

and pull the two ends through the loop.

"The Knot"- Put the scarf around your neck and tie ends in a knot.

"The Shawl"- This looks great with a thicker scarf.

Just lay the scarf around your neck and your done!

"The Loop"-Lay the scarf around your neck with the two ends hanging down your back.

Tuck the two ends into the front looped part of the scarf to make it look like a complete circle.

"The Drape"-Lay the scarf around your neck with the two ends hanging down your back.

Pull to two ends foward and losen the loop around your neck so that it creates a draping effect.

"The Choker"-This works great if you have thinner scarf.

Lay the scarf around your neck with the two ends hanging down your back.

Bring the two ends forward and tie into a knot about six inches or more from your neck.

Hopefully one of these ideas will give you a new way to wear a scarf of your own. If you see a scarf that you loved in one of the pictures come in today to grab it before their gone!

This jar makes a simple and quick Easter Decoration. Find a large empty jar, fill it a quarter

of the way with eggs, place a cute Easter figurine in the middle, and you're done!!
